BildaBike Was Established In 2009

Bildabike started as an effort to provide an affordable custom bike-building experience. At the time, that didn’t exist. Custom always translated to expensive.

After building relationships with reputable parts suppliers, owner, Dan Einhorn, was ready to hit the market. Streamlining the manufacturing and build process allowed BildaBike to cut costs considerably and pass those savings on to you, the customer. People are often surprised that BildaBikes are made with the same or better components than competitors, yet usually cost less. Through this unique business model we have gained a loyal following in Charleston and beyond.

Bildabike has grown a lot over the years. It started in the backyard as a college kid’s dream, and it quickly moved to a 600 sqft store, then to a 10,000 sqft headquarters and now two retail locations. Bildabike has built a solid local reputation in Charleston, SC where it was founded. If you’re ever in town, you’ll notice almost every college student is on a Bildabike. The bike corrals are filled with our unique brightly colored beach cruisers. But it’s not just downtown as we cater to Kiawah, Hilton Head, and surrounding islands.

As more customers came into the retail store we began to field more requests for different items and at the same time we were expanding our own cycling experience by getting into mountain, road, and triathlon bikes. Through this process we opened up accounts with notable bicycle brands in the industry to cater to all cycling needs beyond what we were producing on our own. We hired professional mechanics with expertise in bike repair and we created a large rental fleet with offerings for all types of riders.

Bildabike operates a showroom on King St. in the middle of downtown Charleston and a new retail store in the budding Park Circle neighborhood. During Covid we had a spurt of selling our bikes en masse to bike shops all over the country, establishing over 100 dealer locations, many of which continue to support us today.
